Share your opinion: What Shapes Women’s Participation in AI?
Jonas Bernitt and Danielle Naafs, AFEdemy
According to Eurostat, nearly one in three people (32.7%) aged 16–74 in the European Union used generative AI tools in 2025 for personal, work-related, and educational purposes (Eurostat, 2025). This clearly shows that AI is no longer a niche technology, but an integral part of everyday life for millions across Europe. Yet, EU data also reveals a persistent gap: women remain significantly underrepresented in AI and digital careers. This is not a question of talent or interest, but of structural barriers, stereotypes, and unequal access to opportunities.
This is exactly where the Erasmus+ project AI for ALL comes in. Our project examines barriers to female participation in AI education programmes and works toward creating more inclusive pathways into knowledge and careers.

We invite you to take part in a short survey and help us better understand what holds women back — and what truly motivates them to engage with AI. The survey is open to everybody and welcomes participants with both high and low levels of AI skills. It has a duration of 6-8 minutes and can be accessed by the following link:
