Description

Community Scouts aims to develop a training and toolkit for citizens to become Community Scouts, supporting older adults in their communities.

The project’s objectives are to:

  1. Develop a professional and attractive training toolkit for training Community Scouts.
  2. Improve the availability of high-quality learning opportunities in adult education.
  3. Share the results of the project to promote active aging and community development.

The partners involved in the project are AFEdemy, ISIS Institut für Soziale Infrastruktur gemeinnützige GmbH, and VerbindenBV. AFEdemy the project coordinator and is responsible for project management, while ISIS and VerbindenBV are involved in various activities such as curriculum development, research, and testing of the training toolkit.

The expected impact of the project includes providing learning opportunities for citizens, promoting intergenerational contact, and improving community development and informal support for older adults.

To measure the achievement of project objectives, the consortium will use a series of quantitative and qualitative indicators, including feedback from the target groups, progress reports, and assessment of the toolkit’s effectiveness.

Objectives

The project’s objectives are to:

  • SO1: Further develop a professional and attractive training toolkit for training community scouts in supporting older adults in their own community which will be available online to a wide audience.
  • SO2: Gaining experience in Erasmus + partnership projects for new organisations in the consortium.
  • SO3: Improving the availability of high-quality learning opportunities in adult education through an online training offer.

Target audience

The main target groups of the project are as follows:

  • Citizens (18 years and older) who want to become Community Scouts and support older adults in their communities.
  • Stakeholders within the field of adult education who are in need of training tools to train and support citizens who want to become Community Scouts.
  • Older people in need of (informal) support to age in place and remain at home as long as possible.
  • Providers of support services for older people, such as municipalities, associations, non-profit organizations, and social agencies.
  • The broad public, who will be informed about the training toolkit as future facilitators, clients, or contact persons.
  • These target groups will benefit from the project’s activities, including the development of a training toolkit for Community Scouts and the improvement of high-quality learning opportunities in adult education.
